A luscious and healthy lock is a dream for a lot of women. However, getting there entails a lot of effort. You need to invest in the right hair care products to ensure that you can protect and nourish hair at the same time. But it does not mean that you need to shell out lots of money all year round to achieve the hair you want because you can prepare your own hair treatments at home and get the same quality results!

Here are some noteworthy DIY recipes worth a try:

Cranberry Juice to Boost Red Colour

Need some sprucing up of colour for your red locks? Try cranberry juice. But, no, you won’t be sipping this juice from a glass because you’d have to pour this juice onto the hair. Leave the juice on your hair for a few minutes, then rinse. This will automatically add a boost to the vibrancy of the red colour. If you want to get a deeper colour, let the juice sit on your hair for a few more minutes.

Citrus Juice as Natural Highlight

If you have blonde hair (natural or otherwise) and want to liven up the blonde colour, there is no need to go to the salon. All you have to do is grab a lemon and squeeze juice out of it. You can then apply the lemon juice to your hair strands for an instant highlight. You can also try mixing lemon juice with orange juice for a more natural tone of blonde.

Toothbrush for Teasing Hair

The bristles of a toothbrush are designed to get to hard-to-reach places and keep your teeth clean. You can use this same technique to tease hair and lift the strands off of the roots, especially on those hard-to-reach spots. In addition to teasing, you can also use toothbrush as hair dye dispensers or to smooth out flyaways in hair.

Flour as Dry Shampoo Alternative

Don’t have dry shampoo? No problem! Just head over to your kitchen and get some flour. This product works great for taming second-day hair. Sprinkle a small amount of flour to your hair in order to absorb oil. Leave the flour onto the roots for 10 seconds and dust it off.

Wine Corks as Curlers

Want to curl your hair but don’t have any accessories within reach? If you can find a wine cork somewhere in your home, you’re in luck! This can be used as a makeshift hair curler. Start by wrapping hair in small sections around the cork. Use bobby pins to secure hair onto the cork. Blow dry hair before releasing it from the cork. Voila! You have beautiful tendril waves!
