The braid hairstyle is making a resurgence as of late with several celebrities sporting them in red carpet events. If you are interested in exploring them for your own hairstyle but not sure if it’s the right hairstyle for your personality, no need to worry. There are different kinds of braids for you to choose from that would suit your personality and the occasion with which you plan on sporting the hairstyle on.

Read on below to look at different kinds of braids there is:

Classic French Braid: This is one of the most classic kinds of braids. It starts from the top of the head and a section of hair is pulled back to be braided towards the ends. You can do it by yourself or someone else. There are also several other variations that can be done with this kind of braid depending on preference.

Fishtail Braid: This is one of the most popular braid styles there is because it is stylish and simple to do. It starts by parting the hair into two large strands. Secure the strands with an elastic tie and then slowly start the braiding process. Again, use an elastic band to tie the ends when you are done with the criss-cross pattern until the ends.

Rope Braid: Here’s another innovative twist to the classic braid that involves twisting two strands of hair and then parting them as you would in a fishtail braid. Then, take one strand section and twist and cross it over to the other side. Continue doing this until you are at the end of the hair. Secure the ends with an elastic band.

Side Braid: This is quite simple to do since you will make a side pony instead of starting from the top of your head. You can also do this messy or very sleek, depending on your preference. Start working on the hair beneath your ear and gather three strands of your hair. You can opt to go more if you’d like. Then, weave each strand of hair together causing it to interlap with the other strands.

Messy Braid: This is the simplest of all braids to pull off. You basically pick any of the different kinds of braids and then take out random strands from your hair using the fingers. This will help to create a messy look. Make sure not to overdo it so you have simple sophistication and won’t look like you just got out of bed.

Bohemian Braid: This is one of the most stylish braid styles out there. It usually involves only a small section of the hair and on the side of the head. This type of braid can be done on your own and is perfect to camouflage any fringe or greasy roots. To do this hairstyle, make a loose French braid toward your ears and angle it to one side of your face. Place a rubber band at the end of the braid and then work on the opposite side of your head.

Updo Braid: This is the trickiest braid style to do and one that you cannot do on your own. You can choose between an updo, ponytail or bun when doing your braids. Divide your hair into sections and work on each section for making braids. Make sure that there are no loose braids left and all of them are braided.

Jasmine Braid: This is a variation of the French braid wherein hair ties are wrapped on the entire length of the hair at an interval. Tying the hair bands help to create an accentuated look.
