Hairstyling Tips for Aging Backward

Have you ever wondered how some women tend to look better with age? Sure, there are several beauty products to cover up the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. However, these products can only do so much. To concede to the guessing game, one thing is for sure: never underestimate the power of a good hairstyle.

Hence, I wanted to share with you some of the styling tricks that you can try if you want to look ageless:

Try a deep side part. If you haven’t tried styling your hair in a deep side part, now is the time to. This particular hairstyle trick introduces lots of volume to the hair. If you can get a voluminous wave to go with it, the better. When you style your hair in a center part, it makes your facial features really prominent. Unless you have perfect features or have oozing confidence about your looks, you try to avoid this as much as you can. A deep side part is more forgiving. It also creates the illusion of having a side swept bangs that looks really sexy but never unnatural. No wonder it is popular among stars in the red carpet! The hairstyle also draws a lot of attention towards the shoulder, which is a good thing for all women because your collar bone does not change with age.

Embrace your natural texture. Learn to love the hair you’re born with. If you have naturally curly and wavy hair, embrace it instead of trying to iron your strands straight. Sure, you might love the minimalist feel of shiny, straight hair. But there is also something youthful, exciting and sexy about wavy and curly hair. When you have waves that brush up close to the eyes or ears, it also accentuates your facial features.

Lighten colour and opt for short hair. There is something about short hair that renders a youthful vibe to your look. If you have not tried going short yet, start with a lob (long bob). This is the most forgiving short hairstyle around. Add in a few loose layers to your hair to flatter your face shape while providing limitless styling options; hence, you will never get bored of the same hairstyle. In addition, opting for a lighter hair colour can trick the eyes into making all other features on your face soften up. This will deflect attention away from fine lines.

Colour is key. In the past, we’ve talked about the importance of choosing the right colour if you want to look young. Hence, choosing the right highlights or new colours for your hair can make a world of difference. On the flip side, if you choose the wrong colour or highlight, you can instantly add 10 years to your appearance.

What is your secret to looking young with your hair?
