The braided bun is a sought after hairstyle for women because it can be worn on casual or formal occasions. It is also suitable for all kinds of hair provided that it is long enough to get braided and then curled into a bun thereafter.
If you would like to find out how this hairstyle can be done at home, first you need to secure some of the items you need: elastic band, bobby pins, hair clips, curling iron, and a finishing spray.
Start with a slightly damp hair (so it is easier to style). Then, part your hair however you want and take a two-inch section in one side of your part. Start braiding that section and then secure the end with an elastic band. Make sure to leave smaller sections of the hair on either sides to frame your face and for other styling tricks later.
When you are done, you must take a large section of the top part of your head and start twisting it until you reach the end. When you are at the end, secure your twisted hair using two hair clips.
Finally, take out the remaining bottom half of your hair and braid them all the way. With the rest of the hair braided, twist it into a bun and lump it together with the other parts of your hair that you previously formed into a bun. Remove the hair clips and replace it with bobby pins so you can secure all loose ends.
For the smaller pieces of hair left on the front, take a curling iron and start curling it towards the direction of your hair (meaning, away from your face). Finish it off with a hairspray so you can maintain the shape of your bun.
