One of the best ways to revamp your look is to get a new hair colour. However, maintaining coloured hair is difficult because (depending on the weather conditions) it can quickly fade away or it can cause long term damage to hair (if you do not dedicate an appropriate colour care treatment). It is, therefore, important that you learn what products to use and how to use them in order to maintain colour vibrancy for as long as possible.

Invest in products designed for coloured hair. Seems obvious, right? Unfortunately, not all women with coloured hair are utilising products created primarily to retain hair colour vibrancy, which ends up in dry looking hair and quick fading of hue. Colour care products are produced using colour-safe ingredients and technology designed to protect every strand.
Skip shampoo 2-3 days after colouring your hair. This will enable the colour pigments to penetrate deep into your hair strands whereas shampooing can wash it off. If you really need to wash your hair, switch to a conditioner instead of shampoo as it helps to add more shine and moisture.
Be extra careful when styling colour-treated hair. If you need to tie it, use a plastic covered tie so it won’t cause too much friction that can lead to breakage (which is also fairly common as colour treatment can weaken hair strands).
Provide enough moisture. Choose products that are designed to give more shine and smoothness to your hair. Use it as part of your pre-blow dry treatment to ensure lasting effect.
Protect it from the sun and UV rays. It also pays to invest in UV protection products for your coloured hair because the harsh rays can cause hair to quickly fade. Make sure you apply the UV protection product on your hair before going out so the outer layer of the hair strand is thoroughly coated. This helps to maintain the intensity and radiance of the colour for longer.
Avoid swimming without enough hair protection. Pools, to be specific, are filled with chemicals that can be damaging to coloured hair. You can put on a leave-in conditioner to protect colour from being stripped off.
Wash hair with either lukewarm or cool water. The higher the temperature, the more relaxed the hair structure is that allows more pigments to escape naturally. Thus, it pays to wash your hair with cool water if you want to help preserve its colour for as long as possible.
