The “lob”. That is the term used to describe the long bob, a shoulder-grazing variation of the famous bob hairstyle that hit big in the past year or so. Indeed, a lot of famous names and even regular women hopped onto the short hair trend when it became big in 2013 and were inspired by the chicness of short hairstyles (as opposed to old perceptions of short hair).
If you have decided to take the ‘lob’ plunge, it is important to discuss a few things with your hairstylist first. You also need to take note of a few basic hair styling information to make the trend work for you.
When planning to get a long bob cut, tell your hairstylist to thin out the ends of your hair. They can do this with the use of a razor or scissors. You would want to steer clear of ends that look too blunt (which is the tendency with a long bob haircut). Your hairstylist can even trim off some layers from the back part of the hair in order to add dimension to your look.
An asymmetrical cut also works great with a long bob (take Kate Mara, for example). Hence, the back part of the hair should be made shorter than the front. Again, this helps to add layers and dimension to the hairstyle. But it is also a great styling technique if you want the long bob to look edgy chic with a modern touch.
Another excellent technique to add dimension to short hair, like a lob, is to weave in some highlights. Or, you can try curling the ends to create that much needed volume or flair to the hairstyle.
