How To Naturally Boost Hair Shine

All women, regardless of hair type and texture, aspire for the same thing – to have healthy, shiny hair. But it’s not always an easy journey because everyone has varying concerns when it comes to hair care and maintenance that will pose a challenge in locking in natural shine. According to hair experts, the hair shafts are stronger and shinier during the first couple decades of one’s life, but when you age the hair tends to become duller and lifeless.

Here are some of the tips that will help you prolong the shiny appearance of your hair, as well as tips on how to keep its vibrancy.

Less is Always More

This is the golden rule when it comes to caring for your hair. This also holds true for bleaching, colouring, and other treatments that expose your hair strands to strong chemicals. If you really had to undergo such hair treatments, make sure you choose the products carefully so that these won’t easily damage your hair. Also, trust a qualified hairstylist to do the job instead of doing it yourself at home.

Avoid Over-Washing

You might be tempted to grab a bottle of shampoo and conditioner to keep your hair shiny. However, you need to ease up on lathering, particularly if you have very thick or dry hair. If you can skip one day in between of washing, that would be beneficial in allowing your hair’s natural moisture to come out. Excessive washing can also strip away the natural oils found in your hair strands, making it more prone to irritation.

Always Protect Hair from Heat

Heat styling products are notorious for being moisture-snapper. Hence, you need to protect your strands from the heat that you are about to apply into it using heat protection products. Also, this same approach is needed against natural heat. Always wear protective head gear when going out and when you’re under the sun for long periods of time because heat from the sun can make hair brittle and lifeless.

Condition Hair Before Shampooing

Most women would put shampoo before conditioner in the shower; however, if you want to lock in shine, then you need to put on conditioner first. This will help boost hydration into your locks so moisture is absorbed for longer. You can also do this on unwashed hair. The added layer of conditioner makes the hair better able to lock in moisture and shine.

Treat Hair to Intense Weekly Conditioning Mask or Treatment

As much as you spend time styling your hair with chemical or heat products, you should also invest adequate amount caring for it. You do not need to spend hundreds of dollars on expensive hair conditioning mask or treatment at the salon because you can prepare a homemade natural recipe using mashed avocado and eggs. This mixture can be directly applied to wet hair and wait for it to sit before rinsing. There are several other natural ingredients known to provide beneficial properties into the hair, giving it more vibrancy and shine.
