What would you say if I told you that you could get yourself a foundation that cares for your skin like skincare? A foundation that looks like a second skin, but is super breathable? Well I’ve found the secret and I’m here to share it with you.
The Oxygenetix foundation was created to be used post resurfacing treatments such as laser and peels, when your skin might be slightly more sensitised and needs time to recover. It was designed so you could still wear make up, while letting your skin heal. It not only promoted faster recovery, but also assisted with helping problem conditions like acne, rosacea, melasma, eczema and psoriasis. Essentially, it’s the perfect foundation for sensitive or reactive skin.
I have been testing out the Acne Control Foundation, which took three years of development to come together. It was developed to simultaneously clear and conceal the frustrating signs of acne, and let me tell you I wish this product existed when I was a teenager. The foundation contains 2% salicylic acid and can be used until acne is cleared (it’s then recommended that you switch back to the original Oxygenetix Foundation, or just use as needed). It is also formulated with “Ceravitae”, the super charged oxygen complex in Breathable foundation, which helps to increase collagen production and connective tissue growth in ageing or wounded skin. It works alongside the 2% salicylic acid and is time released by body heat maintaining effective treatment levels throughout the day. Like the original formula, Oxygenetix Acne Control is Aloe vera barbadensis gel based and does not contain added water that attracts bacteria to the skin.
I have been absolutely loving this foundation, honestly a lot more than I thought I would. I have tried the original formula and found that it was a lighter to medium coverage, which was nice, but for my problematic skin I desired more. I was not disappointed when I applied this for the first time – it is definitely a medium coverage foundation that can be built up in areas as needed. It’s a skin like satin finish, but if you desired a more luminous finish, it also works nicely over a hydrating or illuminating primer. It can be powered down if you prefer a matte finish as well.
What I have been surprised by is how it works on my blemishes. While my acne is mild, I still found this foundation definitely helped to treat my acne throughout the day. I loved that I would get to the end of the day and it hadn’t gone dry around my blemishes, and that after removed they looked less angry (which can be a struggle when it comes to acne). It’s honestly blown me away and it’s absolutely something that I wish I had as a teenager, when all I wanted to do was cover up my skin. It would’ve been perfect because rather than caking on foundation that did nothing for me, this would’ve helped to support the healing of my skin. I would 120% recommend this to anyone who suffers from acne and is looking for something that they can wear during the day without working how it’s going to affect your skin.
The other revolutionary product that Oxygenetix has brought out is the Breathable Pro-Healing Moisturiser, which contains the same breathable “second skin” formula as the Oxygenating Foundation. Most moisturisers sink into your skin, or can sit on the surface, leaving your skin feeling suffocated or blocked. The Oxygenetix Face Moisturiser forms a breathable second skin, which provides instant hydration and is perfect for post procedure or sensitive skin. It helps to plump the skin (which is the perfect prep for the Oxygenetix foundations) and it contains hyaluronan and PCA to ensure that your skin is receiving the maximum hydration and protection.
I just want to start with the packaging of this moisturiser – it’s a wonder airtight design, which is super hygienic and easy to use. I am the number 1 offender of accidentally pumping out WAYYY too much moisturiser and having to use the excess on my arms so it doesn’t go to waste. Genius if you ask me.
As for the formula, it is a slightly thicker texture, which I found took a little bit of work to massage into the skin. However, once I had massaged it in, it literally feels like nothing. My skin felt super hydrated, but not clogged. It works beautifully as a base for the Oxygenetix Acne Control Foundationproviding the perfect hydrated base to help the foundation last just that little bit longer. It’s also beautiful on it’s own, as a day or night time moisturiser.
