Even when you are only in your 20s, you need to place high priority on skin care. A lot of women do not give much attention to skin care until they enter their late 30s or early 40s. However, it is often too late at that point because your skin is already damaged to a point wherein any effort to care for it is rendered insignificant. The sooner you get started on caring for your skin, the better!
Don’t be a Copycat
A common practice for women is to find out what skin products their favourite celebrities are using. While this is a good tip to adapt if you want to learn about good skin care products, it might not be the best advice you can use for your own skin care routine. Every skin type is unique. The person with whom you should get recommendations from on the skin care product to use is your dermatologist. They know your skin best and can therefore suggest the most appropriate product for your skin.
Skin is Not Equal to Face
A common mistake that a lot of women commit, especially during their 20s, is to focus solely on caring for the skin on their face. But your skin also includes the rest of your body – to your neck, and all the way down your body. Make sure to give it proper cleansing and exfoliating action to ensure that you can remove dirt or dead skin cells.
Keep Your Hands Off
Your hands can be the biggest source of damage for your skin, especially your face. Imagine how many different objects your hands get to touch every day (your phone alone can be a source of germs and dirt), then imagine touching your face or skin with your hands. Hence, make it a point to keep your hands clean at all times. Or, avoid touching your face with your hands whenever possible.
Harness the Power of Nature
Did you know that you can use oils on your skin? This is not entirely a new concept; oils have been used for a lot of beauty purposes for several centuries now, even dating back to the ancient times. Olive oil is just one of several types of natural oils that offer wonderful benefits to your skin.
Hydrate your Skin
One of the best ways to moisturise your skin is to hydrate it from within. Of course, the age-old beauty secret of drinking at least 8 glasses of water per day applies in this scenario. Dehydrated skin is different from dry skin, however. Make sure you know the difference so you are able to give the recommended care.
Don’t Change Your Products Frequently
When you use a certain skin care product, try to be patient with it. Do not change the products too often. Most skin care products are designed to take effect after using it for a certain period of time. Hence, you have to stick with the recommended use to experience benefits rather than changing your products too frequently without giving them time to work.
Use SPF Daily
This is non-negotiable. Just because it isn’t summer that does not mean you should neglect sunscreen on your skin. Even when the sun is not streaking hot, it still emits harmful UV rays that is one of the contributors to premature skin aging.
