Taking good care of your skin is something in which you cannot afford to cut corners in. It pays to give your skin due diligence when it comes to caring for it. One of the ways to improve your skin care routine is to find out common mistakes that a lot of women are guilty of committing. Are you guilty of these mistakes? Avoid these skin sins now to ensure that your skin won’t suffer damage in the long run:

Sleeping without Removing Makeup

No matter how exhausted you may be, you cannot afford to doze off without removing makeup off your skin. When you do, it damages your skin complexion! The products can clog your skin pores and irritate your skin. On top of that, it can make your skin prone to developing acne and breakouts. Thorough cleansing of your skin by removing makeup and washing your skin is a must. Even though there are makeup wipes sold in the market, washing off makeup is still recommended to ensure that you don’t leave behind any makeup residues on your skin.

Sleep Deprivation

No, the link between skin health and sleep is not a myth. Getting enough amount of sleep on a regular basis is a must for healthy and beautiful skin. Your body enters into repair mode when you are sleeping, giving your skin cells a chance to revitalise themselves. You do not have to meet the 8-hour sleep requirement; focus on getting good quality sleep. About 6-7 hours of good quality sleep would suffice.

Skimping on SPF

There is a common misconception that wearing sunscreen is essential only during hot weather, like summer or spring. However, skin care experts would argue that wearing sunscreen all year long is necessary. Sun damage can happen even when it’s long ways gone summer. If you do not give your skin enough protection from the harmful UV rays of the sun, you can see formation of brown spots in your skin. You can even mix the sunscreen with your face moisturiser to protect your facial skin from sun damage.

Neglecting your Skin and Chest

When talking about skin care, a lot of women make the mistake of focusing solely on the face. But you should also moisturise and nourish the skin in your neck and chest. These parts are still an extension of your face; plus, they are as exposed to the sun as your face. Hence, giving them proper care is vital as they are also vulnerable to aging.

Not Getting Enough Water

We won’t tire of reminding you about the importance of drinking enough water to hydrate and nourish your skin. Some of the best products to care for your skin are readily available in nature. Water is one of them. Make sure you hydrate your skin by drinking lots of water daily. If you don’t, you will notice your skin becomes dry fairly quickly. Hydrate your skin from within because unless you do, there is not enough amount of hydrating lotion and skin products that can replace the water’s job.

If you have other skin sins to add to this list, we’d love to hear about them in the comments section!
