Sexy young woman with bob hairstyleWhen you see celebrities on the red carpet or TV appearances sporting a gorgeous bob, I’m sure you wished that you could rock that gorgeous hair too. However, a lot of women are torn about going for a bob because not everyone is willing to cut their hair short. Hence, they only go as far as to dream about sporting a bob and looking chic like your favorite celebrity. If you are one of those commitment-phobes when it comes to going for super short hair, or changing up your hairstyle, there is no need to worry. You can rock a bob without actually chopping off your locks!

A “faux bob” is the term used to refer to a fake bob when you rock shorter hair without cutting those locks short. You have to follow certain hair styling techniques in order to rock this look. Take note, however, that you must have the patience and time to be able to try out this hairstyle. You will eventually get the hang of this style and rock the faux bob whenever you want.

The key to styling a faux bob starts with proper prep job. Take out a styling mousse and apply a sufficient amount to freshly washed hair while it is still damp. Start from the roots and then work your way towards the ends. Use your fingertips to ensure that the product is completely absorbed. For fine or thin hair, blow dry your hair after applying a styling mousse to give it extra volume. If not, you can simply let your hair air dry.

Beautiful young woman with natural make-up.For the actual styling procedure, you can choose from one of two techniques. First off, you can use a flat iron and run it through your hair to give it that smooth effect. Work at one small section of hair at a time until all of the hair is covered. Wait for hair to cool down before using the brush for the finishing touch.

Another technique you can try is to curl your hair using a medium barrel curling iron. Divide your hair into one and a half inch sections. Work with the section near your face first and then move from there. To help the curl stay in place, pin each section after you finish curling them. Apply a finishing spray to maintain the body and shape of the curl.

The final step in styling a faux bob is to secure the hair for the bob. Use a brush and gently run it through the hair at the back. At this point, you must tuck up the hair until you achieve the desired length for the bob hairstyle. Secure some of the loose hairs with a bobby pin so they won’t fall off. Continue doing this until you reach the front part of the hair. If possible, opt for a bobby pin with the same colour as your hair so that it won’t be visible. Finish off the style with a medium hold hairspray to set the hairstyle.

Will you be trying the faux bob hairstyle?
