Tips for Styling with Hot Tools

For most women, their hot tools are an integral part of their daily styling routine. Indeed, you probably can’t survive a day without your curling iron, blow dryer or hair straightener, especially if you want to experiment with different hairstyles. These hot tools are indeed very useful because you can come up with a variety of hairstyles without necessarily cutting your hair or going to your hairdresser. But not everyone is able to maximise their use of these hot tools, but with a few heat styling guidelines you should be able to get the look that you want without heading to the salon.

Tips for Using Hot Rollers

Hot rollers are excellent tools for achieving long-lasting curls and getting more bounce to your hair. Hence, it starts with choosing the right rollers for your hair type. Velcro rollers are recommended for those with naturally wavy hair or those with frizzy and curly texture. However, heated rollers might be best if your hair tangles easily or does not curl no matter how long you put those rollers on.

Before putting on rollers, smoothen your hair using a blow dryer. This will speed up the time it takes for your hair to set and to allow a more polished result. As always, when using hot tools, you need to spray a heat protection product on your hair before putting in the rollers. And while your rollers are clipped into the hair, spray a small amount of hair styling product to allow the hair to set quicker and for the results to last longer.

Tips for Using Curling Irons

As with the hot rollers, you need to wash your hair clean and dry it before using a curling iron. Spraying a heat protection product is also recommended.

Choosing the right size of barrel on your curling iron is vital to get the right kind of curl as desired. Large barrels will produce large curls, and so on. When curling, you need to start from the root of your hair. Doing it in the reverse manner will cause more damage as the ends are exposed to heat coming from the iron. Finally, make sure that you properly time the curling process and avoid touching them too often. Doing so will either leave you with an unpolished curl or one that is filled with frizz.

Tips for Using Hair Straighteners

The best thing about hair straighteners is that there are a variety of models these days that enable you to adjust the heat settings. Hence, adjust the heat level according to your hair type to ensure that you can get maximum straightening effect without the damage. You should, therefore, look into this when buying a new hair straightener.

When using a hair straightener, always work in sections to make the styling results last. Also, pull hair slowly as you start from the root to the ends so you won’t have to run it through several times to achieve the result you want.

To conclude, always observe moderation when using hot tools. Allow your hair a day or two break in between using hot tools so as not to overly expose it to heat, which can be damaging over time. After all, achieving your desired hairstyle would be an impossibility if you have extremely heat damaged hair.
