You’ve tossed your sundresses deep into your closet, you’ve made changes to your skin care routine, and it is time to adjust your beauty routine as well. Transitioning to winter calls for a major shift in various aspects of your life. But when it comes to beauty and skin care, you cannot afford to make mistakes. You need to be aware of common winter beauty mistakes so you can avoid them:
Spending Too Much Time in the Hot Shower
When it’s cold outside, it can be tempting to spend extra time in the hot shower. But it’s best to avoid that if you do not want to end up with an overly dry skin that is prone to irritation. If possible, try not to shower longer than 15 minutes in the winter. The excessive exposure to heat can compromise the healthy supply of complex fatty acids on the topmost layer of your skin, which in turn gives it a healthy moisture and glow.
Leaving Your Lids to Frost

At this time of year, it is fairly common for you to suffer from frosted lids. And this is not a good sight – it can make your makeup look washed out. Hence, opt for eyeshadows that are of bronze or blue shades. They will not get frosted easily and provide a vibrant winter glow to your eyes instead.
Using Your Summer Bronzer
Sure, you miss your golden summer glow… you’re not the only one. But as much as you want to prolong that golden summer glow, you cannot use the same bronzer you used during the summer for winter. But for best results, switch to a luminizer for the winter. But if you are having major separation anxiety with your bronzer, opt for a softer shade instead. This will look more flattering on your face for your winter beauty look.
Using Soap-Based Facial Cleaner

Using a soap-based lather on your face and skin can be worse than spending extended hot shower session! Thus, switch up your facial cleanser immediately and opt for a non-foaming cleanser.
Foregoing SPF
Just because the temperature is cooler it does not mean that you are safe from the harsh effects of the sun’s UV rays. It is one of the most common winter beauty mistakes that a lot of women commit but one that you cannot afford to make. Excessive exposure to UV rays might be the cause of wrinkles and, worse, cancer.
Using Foundation…on Dry, Flaky Skin

This is one of the most common winter beauty mistakes that a lot of women are not even aware they are committing. It does not matter how good the formula on your foundation is – it won’t hide dry skin; in fact, it will only make it more visible. Exfoliate your skin gently and regularly and switch to a rich cream. If you can find a moisturising foundation, go for it to bring back moisture and leave a dewy finish to your skin. Covering dry skin with makeup is not a good idea at all.
