Your teenage years is a rough time for your skin. As your body is developing, it is prone to developing acne and breaking out. But did you know that skin breakouts do not just happen on our teen years? You are still vulnerable to developing acne if you do not give proper care to your skin.

Thus, I’ve compiled a list of beauty tips that you can use to care for your skin and stop acne on its tracks.

Nourish Skin from the Inside

It might sound cliche but it is a cliche for a reason: it’s true. Taking care of your skin does not just happen on the outside but starts from within. According to dermatologists, food items high in starch and sugar level are among the top reasons why you develop acne breakouts. This, when combined with several other factors, can contribute in making your skin prone to developing acne. Snacking on yoghurt can combat this problem but you also have to make a consistent effort of taking care of your skin.

Skin Care Routine

Beautiful skin does not happen out of magic. Even though some are made to believe that you can be born with beautiful skin, maintaining it is the more difficult part. It pays to know your skin tone and type in order to find the right products to use on your skin. Regularly moisturising your skin is also an essential step for skin care. If you want to give your skin a healthy glow, regular exfoliation should not be missing in your skin care routine either.

One-Minute Rule

If you haven’t heard this before, listen up: give your facial wash or exfoliant at least a minute to work its magic on your skin. If you rinse it too soon, you are simply washing away any clarifying benefits on your skin. This will also ensure that you can clear your pores, not just those areas that need treatment.

Remove Excess Oil

Oil is essential to maintain natural moisture on your skin. However, too much sebum is not a good thing. If your pores has too much oil, it can attract bacteria that make your skin develop acne or pimples. You should therefore make it a habit to remove any excess oil, especially in the T-zone.

Avoid Touching Your Face

You probably admit to doing it and think that it is completely safe to do so. However, your hands can act as a carrier of bacteria that cause your skin to breakout. Resist the urge to touch your face with your hands. But if you must, make sure to sanitize it properly before you do.

What is your secret to preventing skin breakouts?
